Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor

​Quattro Plant Ltd, a leading plant specialist has a vacancy for a Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor to join the team. The role would involve supporting and advising the business on all health, safety and environmental related issues, on site operationally and within the regional depots.

Quattro Group, a leading plant specialist has a vacancy for a Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor to join the team. The role would involve supporting and advising the business on all health, safety and environmental related issues, on site operationally and within the regional depots. There are 6 operational depots in the northern business; Doncaster, Manchester, Whitburn, Lockerbie, Glasgow and Aberdeen. The successful candidate could work from anyone of these depots and be required to travel between them to provide support and guidance as required.

The key responsibilities are:

  • Provide advice and guidance on safe working practices and current safety legislation to the northern area. Escalating any concerns to the HSE Manager to ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Investigate and report on all accidents and incidents, working with the depot managers to implement changes to address the root cause.
  • Assist in external HSE audits to support the local management team.
  • Collate briefings from customers and other external bodies and ensure they are appropriate for dissemination to managers and staff.
  • Regularly conduct site and depot safety inspections.
  • Provision of HSE advice and guidance in relation to POS work being planned and undertaken.
  • Act as a champion for business wide HSE initiatives.
  • Working with the HSE Manager to produce and update company HSE procedures
  • Produce company generic risk assessments
  • Working with the HSE Manager to produce management statistics
  • Producing and delivering tool box talks

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a good understanding of the Railway Network and its practices including significant experience of accident investigation.
  • Have strong communication skills and practical experience in the field which will be essential for focusing all members of the company on the importance of health and safety in the workplace.
  • Need to be adaptable and flexible to manage the reactive requirements of the role.
  • Have a keen eye for detail and good written English for the production of reports for both internal use and for external bodies.
  • Have a full clean driving license which is essential
  • Have a NEBOSH qualification or equivalent as a minimum requirement, an environmental qualification such as IEMA is desirable but not essential.
  • Personal Track Safety competence is desirable but not essential.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensuring that goods are checked and receipted on syrinx in a timely manner.
  • Checking service reminders daily to ensure all services are booked in advance and all the relevant people have been made aware.
  • Completing administrative duties and responding to queries within agreed timescales.
  • Data entry onto in-house Syrinx system opening and closing jobs.
  • Taking messages for other members of the team and relaying them correctly in a time appropriate manner.
  • Supporting the compliance of company policies and procedures

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Able to perform all duties in a polite, efficient, professional and courteous manner
  • Excellent verbal, numeric and written skills
  • Excellent IT skills, fully skilled in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Be familiar with and understand how to interrogate the Company’s management system (Syrinx) for analysis and reporting purposes
  • Excellent telephone manner and ability to handle high call volumes efficiently
  • Good attention to detail with a tenacious approach
  • Able to manage priorities and deliver on time
  • Administration experience in a construction/plant hire business
